FCB Studios is awarded overall winner at this years Housing Design Awards
9th July 2010
FCB Studios picked up the overall Housing Design Award for the third time yesterday. This year’s award was given for Icon in Street, the first phase of a larger development of 400 homes on land owned by Clarks that will form a new neighbourhood intended to offer a new model for sustainable urban development in a market town. Previously FCB Studios have won this prestigious award for housing schemes Bennets Courtyard, Merton Abbey Mills and Accordia, Cambridge in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
Icon also received the highest score yet awarded by CABE’s Building for Life, with 19 points out of 20 achieving a Gold Standard. FCB Studios was also awarded a 2010 Housing Design Project Award for Compstall Mills, with 121 residential units as part of a mixed use scheme, the mill conversion and new build project in Compstall is situated between Stockport and Manchester for ASK Developments. The aim of the scheme is to be carbon-neutral, believed to be a first for a heritage-led residential development in this country. |
