Hackbridge granted with planning permission
15th May 2011
After over four years of work with council's officers, several public consultations and presentations and much local feedback, Hackbridge, one of the biggest urban regeneration schemes in the UK, has been given a planning permission
Schroder Property Investment Management, on behalf of Hackbridge Property Unit Trust, was last night granted planning permission by Sutton Council for a new, £150m innovative and green neighbourhood on the Felnex Trading Estate in Hackbridge, Sutton.
The council’s development control committee approved a revised application last night after raising concerns at a previous meeting. The changes much improved the scheme. It has changed the balance to provide more family housing and more open space for Hackbridge residents.
The scheme meets very high sustainability standards in keeping with Hackbridge's 'sustainable suburb' ethos.
Because of its size, the application is now to be referred to Mayor of London Boris Johnson before planning permission is formally granted.
