Anna Rumary - modelmaker - Sustainability Prize winner

For the second year, FCBStudios is the proud sponsor of the New Blades Sustainability Award.

New Blades is an annual modelmaking graduate show of students from the Arts University Bournemouth, University of Hertfordshire, Coleg y Cymoedd, The Northern School of Art, Northbrook College & Wimbledon School of Art.

Cassidy Wingrove, our Associate modelmaker visited the exhibition. He was pleased to award Anna Rumary, a graduate from Arts University Bournemouth Modelmaking, with the FCBStudios Sustainability Prize.

Cassidy said "Amongst the many impressive works of art at this year’s new blades modelmaking show one stand stood out of the crowd
The specialist materials and processes often found in professional modelmaking can lack the green credentials that we all aspire to, and it was therefore a great pleasure to be introduced to the careful and considered work of miniaturist artist Anna Rumary. Her expert use of the all too often overlooked material that is card, combined with the meticulous attention to detail so abundant at the show, resulted in a harmonious craft that perfectly illustrated just what can be achieved away from the world of laser-cut plastics and acid etched metals.

As we continue to question and interrogate our own use of materials in the workshop was refreshing to be reminded that when treated with respect and integrity even something as simple as card, could achieve so much."

Congratulations to Anna and all the students graduating this year.

A special commendation must go towards Anna’s neighbour on the day Sam Teanby for his excellent design and representation of a new Maggie’s Centre.
