Be heard in the consultation for the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard

14 June 2023

The UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard ( UKNZCBS) is being developed by a cross-industry steering group of professionals, with the aim of creating a standard for new buildings that will enable our industry to robustly verify that our built assets are Net Zero Carbon, and in line with our nation’s climate targets.

The UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard has published a technical update and launched a consultation exercise aimed at allowing the Built Environment sector to share their views.

This technical update describes the technical fundamentals behind the Standard, sharing the metrics that buildings will be assessed against to demonstrate that they are aligned with what is required for the UK built environment to achieve Net Zero Carbon.

Responding to the Consultation

There are a series of talking points raised within this document which are posed as questions in the online survey.

The team will be conducting a webinar at noon on Monday 10 July 2023 to provide industry with answers to pertinent issues raised throughout the consultation.

Dr Joe Jack Williams, Partner at FCBStudios and member of the operational energy task group said “Having one industry-aligned set of limits and targets for net zero buildings will simplify how we procure, deliver and talk about the next generation of new buildings.  We encourage all those working in the sector to engage, and to be part of the movement that is actively pushing the sector to climate responsibility.”

The consultation period is open from 14 June to 31 August.
